GOOD/Corps is proud to be supporting our friends at Starbucks on a project that is going to face our jobs crisis head on. Starbucks has teamed up with Opportunity Finance Network to help create and sustain thousands of jobs across the country through a new project called Create Jobs for USA.
Right now, the unemployment rate in this country is hovering around 9%, but it’s actually much higher in certain communities. The jobs crisis has been felt in every corner of the United States, and it has left many of us asking who can help.
Well, starting today, it’s all of us.
We worked with Starbucks to develop the key branding, messaging and design that became the content for the web, infographics, video and TV. And you'll see one of our infographic GOODSheets (mini newspapers) in every Starbucks store around the country, explaining how the initiative works.

At every Starbucks location across the country and online, you can make a $5 donation to support small businesses so they can create or sustain jobs, and you’ll get a wristband in return. Every cent of your donation goes straight to helping a small businesses grow, and the Starbucks Foundation is starting it off with a $5M donation.
Why small business? Small businesses employ over half of all private-sector workers and have created over 65% of new jobs in the past 15 years.

And that wristband you get for donating? Wear it with confidence, because it represents the $35 that went to a small business. Yes, your $5 donation attracted 6 times additional financing through the awesome work of Opportunity Finance Network and the community development financial institutions they work with.
